KEEMSTAR and UMG host $100,000 Creative Destruction tournament for Fortnite pros

As we approach the final days of December we are reaching the end of what will forever be known as Year of the Battle Royale. 2018 saw Fortnite take over the world, with dozens of other battle royale games inevitably following in its wake.

Creative Destruction is one of the more interesting examples of the genre. Sure, they all feature a lot of destruction, but this is the only battle royale game to make a big deal of creation, too.

The game starts in the usual fashion, with you dropping into a sprawling map in which 100 players are battling it out for survival in an incrementally shrinking battlefield.

The twist is that you can destroy pretty much everything in Creative Destruction, before taking the broken bits and using them to create something new. Each destruction is actually the first stage of creation.

Creative Destruction already has a loyal following online, and earlier this month popular YouTuber Daniel “KEEMSTAR” Keem announced that he would be hosting a massive $100,000 Creative Destruction tournament in partnership with UMG.

Featuring a field of successful Fortnite players, the tournament would see competitors duking it out in teams over two rounds for the highest number of kills. Well, the tournament took place on the 18th of December, and the results are in.

Some of the biggest names in Fortnite streaming and YouTube gaming took part in the event, including Mr Beast, Typical Gamer, Vikkstar123, Daequan, CDN3rd, and a host of others.

The grand final saw Team Liquid team mates Jake “Poach” Brumleve and Noah “Vivid” Wright going head to head with Turner “Tfue” Tenney of FaZe and Mason “Symfuhny” Lanier. Perhaps unsurprizingly, the Team Liquid boys came out on top, banking the top prize of $50,000.

Tfue and Symfuhny took home $30,000, which is a pretty good consolation prize, and the teams in third and fourth place – Summit1g + Mad Ruski and Soar Carl + Svenvoss respectively – each pocketed $10,000.

Creative Destruction came out earlier this year on mobile, with an acclaimed PC version following in August. Head to Google Play, Steam or the App Store to download it now.
